Annual “George Shiverick Cup” Regatta
August 15, 2026
The 2026 Kingston Yacht Club Annual Shiverick Cup was held on August 15th with 7 competitive yachts, of which 3 were restored Shiverick Yachts from the early 1900s. It was a perfect day for a regatta! The race committee set the triangle course with easterly winds at 5-7 knots, which fluctuated throughout the 3 races. The leeward mark was immediately off the Grays Beach swim area, allowing spectators a bird's-eye view. Two photographers covered the event, including drone operator coverage available on the KYC web page. (As the wind decreased just prior to the 3rd race, the race committee elected to run a windward-leeward course to accommodate the post-regatta BBQ social.) The results of the 3 races were:

Kingston 300th Parade
July 25, 2026
The Baclaju was a JRVHS entry towed by Commodore William “Watson” Tayler of the Kingston Yacht Club.
The Watson family was involved in Kingston boat and yacht building of racing cat boats like Baclaju and the founding of the Kingston Yacht Club by “guys that worked with their hands” in the late 19th.
The Kingston Yacht Club was excited to celebrate its second Kingston Centennial since its founding in 1896.
Baclaju was restored by a CPC project of the Town of Kingston and maintained by the Jones River Village Historical Society.

Incorporated by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts on April 24, 1895 to encourage boating, yachting and athletics, our active committees support that purpose and create a fun social environment for Club members. We sponsor safe boating and navigation courses, regattas, and popular social events; and provide scholarships to area students. We welcome anyone interested in joining our membership.
